MammaKind becomes client-facing at Parkside Community Centre
MammaKind has become client facing for the first time! We have just launched a weekly pop-up session at the Parkside Community Centre where local families in need can request help directly from the MammaKind team.
The partnership with the Parkside Community Centre Lewisham has been funded by a local NCIL award, which was then matched by the Peabody Community Foundation.
Although MammaKind started supporting families at the beginning of the pandemic, when many support services were closing to keep people safe, we have previously always been one step removed from families, with the professionals who refer clients to the charity being their main point of contact.
Families in need of baby and child kit, including clothes, nappies and toiletries, can turn up to the Parkside Community Centre (located at 1 Copperwood Place, SE10 8GE), without an appointment between 10am and 12pm each Wednesday during term time (not during school holidays). They will speak to a member of the MammaKind team who will do their best to get them the things they need.
Steph Bell (pictured right), who has been newly appointed as the Referral Lead for the Peabody project, said: “Having volunteered at MammaKind for over year I’ve witnessed first-hand the positive impact it makes on those it supports. I am excited to be bringing MammaKind to more families throughout Lewisham.”
Kelly Fort, Head of Operations at MammaKind, commented: “We have waited a long time to be able to support families directly and are deeply grateful to our project partners for collaborating with us to make this happen.”
